What I Was Thinking When I First Met Jordan Baker
The first time I met Jordan Baker was when I came to visit Daisy and Tom Buchanan in East Egg. She was a stranger to me. She looked interesting because she was completely motionless and her chin was raised a little as if she were balancing something on it which was quite likely to fall. I thought I interrupted her, so I felt like I needed to apologize. She was so beautiful. She was a slender, small breasted girl with an erect carriage which she accentuated by throwing her body backward at the shoulders like a young cadet. She had a very charming face with grey sun-strained eyes. I finally realized that I did know who she was, she was the professional golfer. She seemed like a very independent woman, unlike Daisy. Just don't tell her I said that... Anyways, Jordan intrigued me. I wanted to start getting to know her. I was ecstatic when I saw her at one of Gatsby's parties. She was always so much fun, and I found myself always wanting to be around her.
