What I Was Feeling When Tom Hit Myrtle

When Tom brought me to the city, I wasn't expecting the crazy time that I ended up having. He wanted me to meet his girl, Myrtle. I didn't really want to even meet her because this was the woman that Tom was cheating on my cousin with. Anyhow, I still ended up going with him. After we arrived in the city we went to the apartment that Tom and Myrtle shared. It was a nice place, but once I again I was shocked of this other life that Tom was living away from Daisy. The party had been going on for a while when Tom and Myrtle started fighting. They were starting to make a scene and I was embarrassed for them. Myrtle was getting upset because of Daisy. She wanted Tom to leave her and be with her instead. Myrtle was going around the entire apartment yelling Daisy's name. Tom got so angry when she wouldn't stop that he punched her right in the face. I was appalled! I couldn't believe what was happening right before my very own eyes. I knew Tom was a tough guy and kind of mean, but I never thought he would lay a hand on someone he loved. Myrtle started bleeding and I felt really bad for her. After that moment I lost a lot of respect for Tom, because I know that I would never treat a woman like that.
